NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service
For over 50 years the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) has worked to conserve plant and wildlife biodiversity, fire management, as well as research, education and volunteering programs.
Managing more than 870 national parks covering over 7 million hectares of land, that’s roughly 9% of the state and includes national parks, World Heritage areas and sites of cultural or historic significance. Sustainable tourism and visitation to national parks in NSW is part of their brief. From 2014, visitation rose by 31%, creating both a major success and significant challenge for the NPWS.
