WHO ARE WE?

Not so long ago, typesetting was the creative backbone of the advertising industry. In 1952, two industry figures Messrs. Jones and Harley set up a hot metal typesetting business in Buckingham Street, Surry Hills. From the origins of type – dating as far back as Gutenburg – the team of craftsmen at Harley & Jones moved with the times from Linotype machines, to phototypesetting then into desktop publishing.

When Clive Jones, son of one of the founders, took over the family business he moved towards pure design. When Harley & Jones moved into the same building as Bodoni Studios, the two businesses began working ever more closely together, and have worked out of the same office ever since.

Based in Sydney, Harley & Jones is owned and managed by creative director, Peter Scriven. Our work spans the design spectrum from print to digital. We embrace both visual and verbal communication. We create branding and produce brochures, websites, advertising and event collateral. Our clients range from government institutions, charities, not-for-profits, publishing and veterinarian pharmaceuticals. Above all, we take pride in delivering well-designed, effective and high-quality creative.
